2022 in Review: SunDance Advances Community and Sustainability Efforts

Between our Continuous Improvement Projects (CIPs) and following through with our general sustainability measures, SunDance has been busy! We know from experience it's not easy being green. But we also know it's oh so important.
SunDance Participates in the #CleanEarthChallenge!
As an SGP Partner, we are asked to do a continuous improvement project every year. This year we split our project into 4 individual community focused projects to benefit the environment and the people here in Orange County. SunDance Sustainability: Our 2021 SGP Audit
SunDance recently completed an SGP recertification audit, a rigorous process we go through every 2 years. SGP stands for the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership and is the only print-production specific certification program focused on all aspects of sustainability within a print manufacturing organization. SunDance was the first offset printer in the state of Florida to achieve SGP certification, one of only 62 SGP certified companies in the USA and Canada.

Here at SunDance, we’re all about doing our part for the environment. We try to live sustainably. There’s a misconception in the world that we should be shifting away from paper and forest products as climate change looms. However, that kind of thinking is sadly misguided. Trees make oxygen, take in CO2. If climate change is being led by CO2 emissions, we shouldn’t be cutting down trees, right? Well, it’s more complicated than that. We actually have more trees today in the US than 100 years ago, yes, you read that right!

During discussions with current and potential clients, it’s not unusual for brand owners to say they’re looking for Eco-friendly packaging options. In response, we ask the client, “What are your Eco-friendly goals?” Most times, they respond, “I want my packaging to be recyclable.” This answer leads to a deeper discussion about Eco-friendly terms such as recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable in relation to packaging.
